ACCC Informed Choice

Mackay Hearing fully support the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) advice about hearing aids and devices and their information to help make an informed decision. On 3 March 2017, the ACCC released a report about issues around the sale of hearing aids to encourage the industry to reconsider commissions, disclosure and sales practices in the context of the Australian Consumer Law. The Hearing aid sector was put on notice.

Mackay Hearing is proudly an independent hearing service, and we are not influenced by commissions or driven by incentives when recommending hearing devices. We provide our clients with a range of options and discuss features, benefits and prices in our appointments. We provide hearing device quotes in writing when making decisions about hearing devices and are happy to provide a copy of your hearing test results.

The report is available for Issues around the sale of hearing aids here.

The advice sheet released by the ACCC includes information on what to expect before, during and after your hearing appointment. You can access this information sheet here.
